Matrix is another special spreadsheet container for matrix-like data presented as a table. The elements of such a matrix can be thought of as being the Z-values, Z=Z(X,Y), with X and Y values being the row and column numbers, respectively. In other words, matrices have numbered columns which are mapped to linearly spaced X values and numbered rows which are mapped to linearly spaced Y values. Each cell value in a matrix represents a Z value that is located in the XY plane by the cell's X and Y values. The transition from the row and column numbers to the logical coordinates are done via an explicit user-defined mapping of both representations. This special spreadsheet is used to store data for 3D-plots.

Description

The Std File New Matrix command creates new matrix.

Usage

  1. There are several ways to invoke the command:
    • Press the Std New Matrix.svg New Matrix button.
    • Select the File → Std New Matrix.svgNew Matrix option from the menu.
    • Use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+M.
