Introduction

In every construction project, the consultant occupies a uniquely demanding position. Entrusted with safeguarding quality, enforcing compliance, and protecting the client’s interests, the consultant must maintain oversight across a wide range of activities—often without direct control over how the work is executed. Despite this responsibility, many supervision teams still rely on a combination of spreadsheets, emails, paper reports, and generic software tools. While these methods may function on a basic level, they rarely provide the structure, clarity, and traceability required for effective supervision in today’s increasingly complex projects. As projects grow in scale and contractual expectations become more stringent, the limitations of traditional and generic digital tools become more apparent. This has created a clear need for a solution designed specifically for the consultant’s role.

SiteMaster combines a powerful administration backend with flexible project management tools to support daily reporting, work item tracking, inspections, personnel attendance, equipment monitoring, document management, multimedia records, and construction workflow approvals. The platform is fully customizable, secure, scalable, and extendable to fit the requirements of road, bridge, drainage, earthwork, and general infrastructure projects.

From project setup to daily supervision activities, SiteMaster helps engineering teams centralize information, improve collaboration, maintain accurate records, and enhance construction oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

The hubs

Users hub: This page contains documentation useful for SiteMaster users in general: a list of all the plugins, detailed instructions on how to install and use the SiteMaster application, tutorials, and all you need to get started.

Power users hub: This page gathers documentation for advanced users and people interested in writing Python scripts. There you will also find a repository of macros, instructions on how to install and use them, and more information about customizing SiteMaster to your specific needs.

Developers hub: This section contains material for developers: How to compile SiteMaster yourself, how the SiteMaster source code is structured, how to navigate the source code, how to develop new plugins.

How to participate

There is plenty to do inside the SiteMaster project, if you are interested in helping us. Of course, there are programming tasks for C++ programmers, but there are also many things you can do even if you cannot code, such as

writing documentation and editing the wiki (en)
helping newcomers
helping with the packaging of the latest release of SiteMaster for your favourite operating system
helping other people around you to discover SiteMaster.

Source code

SiteMaster can be compiled on all platforms. The source code is GPL-licensed and hosted on GitHub and mirrored on GitLab, SourceForge and CodeBerg. There are build instructions for Windows, Linux and MacOS.

About the development

For now, there is no roadmap for the whole SiteMaster project. If you want to get involved it is best to ask in the Developer section of the SiteMaster forum. Check the these pages to see the progress towards next release. All the development communication happens on the forum, so be sure to visit it if you are interested in participating.
