Standard Installation

The easiest way to install the latest stable version of LabRPS is to use the installer, see the Download page. After downloading the installer, double-click it to start the installation process. Below is more information about some technical options. But most users don't need more than the installer. Head to Getting started once installation is complete.

LabRPS is mainly licensed under the LGPL license, which allows you to download, install, redistribute, and use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, without any restrictions. You retain full ownership of the files you create.

For now, LabRPS operates only on Windows. The macOS and Linux versions are still under testing. For Windows, the LabRPS community offers ready-to-use precompiled installers.

The official LabRPS download page can be found at the LabRPS download page. Additional information about the installation process can be found at the dedicated download wiki.

  1. Download an installer (.exe) from the download page. The LabRPS installers should work on any Windows version starting from Windows 7.
  2. Accept the terms of the LGPL license:

  3. You can leave the default path here, or change it if you wish:

  4. Make sure to check all the components to install:

  5. That’s it. The installation is now complete and you can start exploring the capabilities of LabRPS.

Installation for all users of the Windows system

By default LabRPS will be installed for the user that executes the installer. If this user only has user permissions, the default installation path is:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\LabRPS X.YY

If the installer is executed by an admin user, or you execute it as admin, you can choose if LabRPS should be installed for all users of the system or just for you. The default is for all users.

If installed for all users, the default installation path is:

C:\Program Files\LabRPS X.YY

Silent Installation

To install LabRPS silently, you can execute the installer from the command line:

LabRPS-~.exe /S

Default settings will be used for all options. A custom installation path can be specified in this manner:

LabRPS-~.exe /S /D=A path to LabRPS with spaces

By default, even with silent installations, there will be a short popup when the installer is checked for corruption. This so-called cyclic redundancy check only takes a few seconds at most. To disable this corruption check:

LabRPS-~.exe /S /NCRC

Note that this /NCRC flag is not recommended since the corruption check assures that the installer was e.g. completely downloaded.

Uninstallation

To uninstall LabRPS it is preferable to use the Windows tools for uninstalling software. Alternatively you can execute the uninstaller directly. This is the file:

Uninstall-LabRPS.exe

You can find it in the folder where LabRPS is installed.

The uninstaller can also be executed silently using the command line:

Uninstall-LabRPS.exe /S

Note that (silent) uninstallation will fail if there is a running instance of LabRPS, even if that instance is not the version being uninstalled.
