| === How it all started ===

| LabRPS began in Spetember 2015 when [[User:Koffi Togbenou|Koffi Togbenou]] started his PhD study in Southwest Jiaotong University in China. At that time the application was only for the numerical simulation of [[Glossary#Stochastic_wind_velocity|Stochastic wind velocity]] therefore it was called WindLab. The application was presented for the first time in his PhD dissertation in 2017. It was developed based on the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Foundation_Class_Library Microsoft Foundation Class Library (MFC)], a C++ object-oriented library for developing desktop applications for Windows. Then later in 2018, the application was modified with the introduction of a plugin system and the ability to work with more random phenomena. Therefore, the name of the application was changed to [[About_LabRPS|LabRPS]]. This version also was based on the MFC library but through the BCGControlBar, a commercial software development framework which an MFC extension library that allows you to create Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visual Studio-like applications. This version was not published due the constraints associated with the BCGControlBar license. He decided then to rewrite the application based on [http://www.qt.io/ Qt], the world-famous user interface framework and release the application under an open source license in 2023.
